Helsinki's Mayor for the term 2021–2025 is Juhana Vartiainen (kokoomus).

The Deputy mayors by sector for 2021–2025 are:

Education, Johanna Laisaari (sosialidemokraatit)
Urban Environment, Anni Sinnemäki (vihreät)
Culture and Leisure, Paavo Arhinmäki (vasemmistoliitto)
Social Services, Health Care and Rescue Services, Daniel Sazonov (kokoomus)

The Mayor leads the City and serves as chairperson of the City Board. The Deputy Mayors serve as chairpersons of the division committees and are members of the City Board. The City Council elects the Mayor and Deputy Mayors among the councillors for the duration of the electoral period.
