The Sports Sub-committee of the Culture and Leisure Committee sets goals for Helsinki’s sports services as a whole and monitors their realisation. The Sub-committee submits statements to the Culture and Leisure Committee on the performance budget and action plan. Additionally, the Sub-committee handles the duties related to allocating grants for implementing sports activities and sports policy.
The City Council appoints the sub-committees’ members, deputies and Chairs from among its members for the City Council’s period of office.
The Sub-committee has nine members. Each member has a personal deputy member.
